Seoul – January 13, 2024
Enterprise AI services company People and Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO: Hong Seong-pyo, Lim Jin-soon) has announced the official launch of the Disease Control and Prevention Integrated Information System and Infectious Disease Big Data Platform, in which the company participated as a sub-contractor. The system is now fully operational as of January 2, 2024.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) launched this project to create a comprehensive system that could enable fast and coordinated responses to future infectious disease outbreaks. After two weeks of pilot operation starting on December 18, 2023, the system officially went live.
The revamped integrated information system was designed to solve issues related to isolated management of infectious disease, quarantine, and COVID-19 data, which previously hindered timely data sharing and connection. The system now integrates all stages of infectious disease response—from quarantine and case reporting to pathogen diagnosis, epidemiological investigation, and patient management. It also enables the management of an individual’s infectious disease history and integrates information from external government systems, including vaccination management systems, the Ministry of the Interior's resident registration system, and the Ministry of Justice's immigration information system.
Notably, the system has expanded the number of connected public information systems from 10 to 16, further improving the accuracy and minimizing errors through real-time data integration.
As a sub-contractor, People and Technology played a critical role in developing core components of the system, including patient monitoring and management, epidemiological investigation, diagnostic testing, pathogen management, screening station management, automatic disease reporting, and integration of personal data.
A representative from People and Technology commented, "The Disease Control and Prevention Integrated Information System and Big Data Platform, which officially launched in January, allows us to conduct epidemiological investigations and patient management at the public health center level, ahead of the medical institution reporting phase. This system supports real-time surveillance of over 50 types of Category 1-4 infectious diseases and can rapidly respond to new infectious disease outbreaks using big data. We are committed to continuous efforts to stabilize and optimize this service."
