People and Technology Co., Ltd., an enterprise AI services company, announced on January 22 that its On-Device AI Video Surveillance Device has received the ‘TTA Verified Ver.1’ security performance quality certification from the Korea Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA).
In response to the increasing concerns over IP camera hacking, the need for stronger security in CCTV cameras has been highlighted, prompting the government to mandate TTA security certification for public CCTV installations starting in March 2023. The TTA certification is part of a CCTV performance testing and certification service and requires compliance with three strict categories: security, functionality, and interoperability. To achieve this certification, the product must pass rigorous testing across all these areas.
The On-Device AI Video Surveillance Device is capable of monitoring traffic on highways and national roads, detecting passing vehicles, and recognizing license plates. The camera can autonomously set regions of interest (ROI) within the video and read the vehicle's license plate in real-time. It can also detect vehicle speed without requiring additional sensors, and the device offers direction detection features to monitor illegal driving patterns, such as wrong-way driving and illegal parking, based on the set regions. Detected events are transmitted to the control center as still images (JPEG) and metadata.
Additionally, the AI-based object detection minimizes alarm errors, improving monitoring and operational efficiency. The camera can generate metadata, including object attributes, allowing for faster and more convenient smart searches. Furthermore, the device supports two-channel simultaneous streaming to minimize storage requirements and can supply power (12V DC, 50mA maximum) without an additional power supply unit, enabling the connection of extra sensor devices.
A representative from People and Technology stated, "This TTA-certified AI video surveillance device can expand the functionality of multi-purpose security cameras in local governments, detecting various scenarios such as wrong-way driving on one-way streets, illegal parking, illegal U-turns, and monitoring vehicle speed in school zones and other speed-restricted areas. We also anticipate that this certification will accelerate our entry into the public market through registration on the national procurement platform (Nara Market)."
