People and Technology Secures GPU Infrastructure Support
Through National AI Project…
Accelerates Advancement of Infectious Disease & Medical AI FM
Designated as Lead Organization for KDCA's "Advancement of AI-Based Infectious Disease Response System" — GPU Utilization to Begin in June
Healthcare AI·DX-based smart hospital service platform company People and Technology (CEO Hong Seong-pyo) announced that it has secured GPU infrastructure support through the Ministry of Science and ICT's "2026 National AI Project." As the lead organization for the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA)'s "Advancement of an AI-Based National Infectious Disease Response System" project, the company plans to begin full-scale utilization of the GPU resources starting in June.
On May 1, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the 6th Science and Technology Ministers' Meeting in written form and finalized the selection of 52 projects for the National AI Project program from 121 proposals submitted by 28 government ministries and agencies through a cross-government demand survey. The government plans to sequentially allocate 2,832 GPUs from the 10,000 GPUs secured through the 2025 supplementary budget to the selected projects.
The KDCA project led by People and Technology aims to develop and demonstrate an integrated AX (AI Transformation) system that combines AI across the entire infectious disease response workflow to improve quarantine efficiency and strengthen public health safety. The project's core objectives include:
- Automating repetitive administrative tasks
- Improving operational efficiency through AI-assisted epidemiological investigations
- Delivering the latest quarantine and prevention guidelines more rapidly
- Strengthening data interoperability with the existing Integrated Infectious Disease Response Information System
Using the GPU infrastructure provided through the project, the company plans to focus on developing an infectious disease-specialized Foundation Model (FM). By leveraging domain-specific corpora such as quarantine guidelines and epidemiological investigation cases for continual pre-training, People and Technology aims to build a language model specialized for infectious disease response. The company also plans to develop and integrate an infectious disease-specialized RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) system utilizing professional quarantine materials and accumulated epidemiological data within the KDCA to improve the accuracy of its AI-based disease prevention assistant. The trained model will further be quantized and optimized to enable more efficient inference services.
The acquisition of GPU infrastructure through this initiative is expected to serve as a significant opportunity to further enhance the capabilities of the infectious disease and medical AI foundation models currently under development. It is also meaningful in that public healthcare data and GPU resources secured through the national project can be directly utilized for model training.
Hong Seong-pyo, CEO of People and Technology, stated: "We believe securing GPU infrastructure through the National AI Project is highly meaningful." He added that "applying AI technology directly within the public healthcare domain of infectious diseases through this project will become an important foundation for improving the completeness and sophistication of the medical AI foundation model we are developing internally."
