Seoul – June 30, 2022 –

IoT and AI platform solutions provider People and Technology announced its selection for the Public Procurement Cooperation Support Program. This program fosters collaboration between small and large enterprises to meet the advanced technology needs of the public procurement market, such as AI, IoT, and Cloud-based solutions.

About the Program

The Public Procurement Cooperation Support Program enables small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large corporations to work together while maintaining a competitive SME product ecosystem. Previously, security cameras and video surveillance devices were designated as SME-exclusive products, limiting public procurement participation to SMEs. However, the growing demand for advanced technologies in public projects often exceeds the capabilities of SMEs alone.

Under the program:

  • Large corporations supply components and materials as collaborating partners.
  • SMEs integrate proprietary technologies and act as lead developers, jointly delivering next-generation solutions like Edge (on SoC Chip) AI video surveillance systems.

People and Technology's Role

People and Technology has been selected for the development of advanced surveillance systems under the project title: "Domestic SME Collaboration for Edge (on SoC Chip) AI and Smart IP Camera Block Development." The company plans to supply high-performance, AI-based next-generation surveillance systems to the public sector using entirely domestic technology.

The project focuses on integrating cutting-edge features into Edge AI cameras, including:

  • Vehicle Information Recognition Software: Embedded in AI cameras to analyze license plates, manufacturers, colors, movement directions, and speeds.
  • Metadata Integration: Supports vehicle registration numbers, types, and operation data while protecting personal information.
  • Enhanced Public Safety: Facilitates advanced vehicle detection and identification for applications like traffic monitoring, illegal parking enforcement, and suspect vehicle searches.

Collaboration with Hanwha Techwin

People and Technology will incorporate its latest AI algorithms into Hanwha Techwin's AI camera blocks and NVR components. The resulting surveillance systems will serve various purposes, including:

  • Traffic Monitoring: Utilizing vehicle metadata for tasks like traffic law enforcement and suspect tracking.
  • Public Safety: Installing AI surveillance systems in public buildings and spaces to monitor suspicious activity while safeguarding personal data.

Impact and Applications

The solution will enhance public safety by enabling real-time analysis and response in various environments. Its applications include:

  • Law enforcement tools, such as parking and traffic violations.
  • Security surveillance for public spaces, protecting privacy while identifying potential threats.

Hong Sung-pyo, CEO of People and Technology, stated:
"We are thrilled to be selected for the Public Procurement Cooperation Support Program. This initiative represents a significant opportunity for growth in the expansive public procurement market, and we are excited about the future potential."

The partnership is expected to set a new benchmark for public safety and surveillance technology, contributing to the advancement of domestic AI-driven solutions in the global public sector.
