Seoul – June 2, 2022 –
People and Technology Co., Ltd. has been contracted to supply its IndoorPlus+ IoT asset management system for three Gwanggaeto-III Batch-II (KDX-III Batch-II) and Ulsan-Class Batch-III (FFX Batch-III) naval vessels.
Using beacon tags, the solution enables real-time monitoring of onboard assets via a dashboard, allowing users to locate assets at a glance. Additionally, NFC tags will be utilized to digitize weapon intake and release processes, replacing traditional manual record-keeping methods for improved efficiency and convenience.
Expanding IoT Solutions for the Navy
This is not the first time People and Technology has collaborated with the Navy to provide IoT solutions. In 2020, during the Navy's U Experimental Project, the company delivered an IoT-based system to the ROKS Yang Manchun, which included features such as:
- Crew location tracking
- Scenario-based situation management
- Fire detection
- Temperature and humidity monitoring
- Crew health monitoring
- IoT-enabled patrols
- SOS functionality
Furthermore, contracts were signed in 2020 and 2021 to provide similar systems for the Gwanggaeto-III Batch-II and Ulsan-Class Batch-III new-build ships, with services currently under construction.
Recent Developments
In 2022, People and Technology expanded its partnership by securing a contract with the 6th Naval Fleet Command to deliver IoT solutions for fire detection, IoT patrols, SOS functionality, and door sensors.
Key IoT features include:
- Smartwatch Integration: Monitoring crew health and alerting supervisors of abnormal heart rates.
- IoT-Enabled Patrols: Utilizing NFC tags and smartphone terminals, patrol officers can:
- Track real-time patrol locations
- Document anomalies via checklists
- Send emergency SOS signals
First IoT Asset Management System for Naval Vessels
The integration of IoT asset management in naval vessels represents a significant milestone. By enabling real-time asset tracking, the system aims to prevent theft and loss while optimizing onboard resource allocation and distribution.
Through these advancements, the Navy can enhance operational efficiency and pave the way for smarter, more modernized naval operations.
Hong Sung-pyo, co-CEO of People and Technology, remarked:
“This milestone marks an important step toward equipping our naval forces with innovative IoT capabilities. We are committed to delivering solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and operational excellence for our nation's defense.”
