People and Technology has been selected to supply its IndoorPlus+ Solution to Incheon International Airport, a global pioneer in smart airport development.
Incheon Airport: A Global Smart Airport Leader
Incheon International Airport, ranked 5th globally with over 67.68 million international travelers in 2018, has been a consistent leader in passenger satisfaction. It held the top spot in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings by the Airports Council International (ACI) for 12 consecutive years, from 2005 to 2017.
With ambitious plans to evolve into a world-class smart airport, Incheon aims to expand its facilities to process 130 million passengers annually across five runways by 2029, covering an area of 47 square kilometers. As part of this transformation, the airport is introducing IoT solutions to automate the management of fixed and mobile assets, and IndoorPlus+ was chosen for its advanced capabilities.
Why IndoorPlus+ for Incheon Airport?
Tracking assets in an airport environment poses unique challenges due to:
- The vast scale of the premises.
- High-value mobile assets transitioning between indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Specialized environments, such as hangars and large indoor areas.
Incheon Airport required a solution that not only tracks asset locations but also generates actionable insights, such as operational efficiency analysis and data-driven decision-making for future investments.
The IndoorPlus+ platform fulfills these needs by offering:
- Comprehensive Asset Tracking: Tracks both fixed and mobile assets in real-time across the airport.
- Data-Driven Insights: Provides tools for analyzing asset utilization rates, enabling optimized resource allocation and strategic purchasing decisions.
- Integrated Sensor Monitoring: Combines location tracking with sensor data to deliver a unified view of asset operations.
Innovative Features of IndoorPlus+
The solution includes advanced capabilities designed for smart airport operations:
- Motion Sensors: Integrated into the platform to analyze asset utilization rates with high precision.
- Unified IoT Monitoring: Allows users to monitor location and sensor data within a single, open, and integrated IoT platform.
- Scalability: Designed for expansion beyond initial deployment, covering larger areas and broader asset categories.
Future Expansion Plans
The IndoorPlus+ solution is set to be fully deployed by Q2 2020. After the initial implementation, the system will be expanded across the entire airport under a pilot program. This project is expected to serve as a model for smart airport innovation, enabling further deployments in other domestic and international airports.

Pioneering IoT with Meaningful Data
The deployment of IndoorPlus+ at Incheon Airport underscores People and Technology’s ability to derive actionable insights from IoT data. By extending beyond asset tracking to provide meaningful analysis, PnT continues to push the boundaries of IoT solutions, paving the way for smarter, more efficient operations.
As Incheon Airport moves closer to becoming a global benchmark for smart airport innovation, People and Technology is proud to play a key role in enabling this transformation.
