What are the basic technologies adopted by PEOPLE AND TECHNLOGY’s IoT solutions?
PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ IoT solution uses the BLE 4.0-4.2 (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LoRa of LPWA (Low Power Wide Area). The BLE and LoRa technologies answer to customer requirements such as low power consumption, location positioning, and smart sensing.
Which technologies compete with the BLE technology?
The basic technologies that support IoT solutions and can be used in similar use cases to BLE include the UWB (Ultra-Wide Band), active-passive RFID, Wi-Fi, and NB-IoT (Narrow Band).
What are the differentiating features of the BLE technology?
All basic technologies that support IoT solutions have unique features. Therefore, it is difficult to say which technology is better. Moreover, even if some based technologies have similar performance, they may result in different outcomes according to the IoT solutions. As such, the key is to select the based technology that is appropriate for the problem to solve and the use case to implement. And also the most important thing is to choose proven solution in the market that uses the selected based technology.
Nevertheless, if you understand the overall characteristics and differences of each base technology, you can say that the advantages of BLE and LoRa among IoT based technologies are superior to other technologies. We invite you to visit the following blog of PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY for more detailed information.
Is there any interference or overlap of existing device in the 2.4GHz bandwidth when applying the Bluetooth technology?
PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ solution uses the 2.4GHz bandwidth. However, there is no channel interference with existing devices since the solution randomly uses the 4-channel bandwidth, which is not occupied by the Wi-Fi 2.4GHz bandwidth, through frequency-hopping. If anything, radio wave collisions can occur between BLE devices if there are multiple BLE devices in a narrow area. However, the problem is a concern only when tens of BLE devices exist in a zone of less than 5m. Thus it is not a problem in typical conditions. Moreover, due to the nature of BLE signal transmission, missing a few signals does not affect the overall service progress.
Note that it may be difficult to obtain the desired performance because of reflection, diffraction, and blocking in a space such as a factory where there are many steel structures. How will it affect the IoT solutions by PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY?
The basic nature of radio wave also affects PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ IoT solution. It means that the solution is not free from the issues such as reflection, diffraction, and blocking in an environment where there are steel structures.
However, the IndoorPlus+ IoT solution has proven performance in many factories and environments with steel structures, and thus its software, hardware, and deploying plan reflect the know-how and experience to ensure the satisfactory result with proper HW device installation and software algorithms.
That is why the solutions show better performance than other solutions and the customers select PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IoT solutions.
