PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ solution uses the 2.4GHz bandwidth. However, there is no channel interference with existing devices since the solution randomly uses the 4-channel bandwidth, which is not occupied by the Wi-Fi 2.4GHz bandwidth, through frequency-hopping. If anything, radio wave collisions can occur between BLE devices if there are multiple BLE devices in a narrow area. However, the problem is a concern only when tens of BLE devices exist in a zone of less than 5m. Thus it is not a problem in typical conditions. Moreover, due to the nature of BLE signal transmission, missing a few signals does not affect the overall service progress.

The basic nature of radio wave also affects PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ IoT solution. It means that the solution is not free from the issues such as reflection, diffraction, and blocking in an environment where there are steel structures.

The exact server sizing depends on the use case. It is difficult to give you an answer on server sizing without further discussion since there are many factors such as the number of objects to be tracked, signal transmission interval, number of objects for smart sensing, number of gateways, and conditions of the deployed site.

PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY requires a cell planning to deploy its IoT solution according to the use case. The indoor map is necessary first for cell planning. It will be best if PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY or its partner can visit your site. If it is not feasible, having the pictures to check the installation location will help to make an accurate cell plan.

The cell planning stage determines the final installation locations of hardware devices for PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IoT solution. A BLE location beacon or BLE scanner is generally installed on a wall or ceiling while a gateway is located in a TPS (Telecommunication Pipe Shaft) room. Although there are installation locations that PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY prefers for best performance, sometimes, those locations are not available.

However, PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ solutions provide various installation options and tuning points to show the desired performance even under these spatial limitations. It is one of the reasons why many customers select PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s solution.

The hardware PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s support the wired network by default. However, they can send data wirelessly using the LTE wireless router added to the gateway.

Moreover, the USB scanners and scanners support data transfer through Wi-Fi communication also.

The biggest benefit of PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IndoorPlus+ IoT solution is that it can be adapted with the existing Wi-Fi AP or CCTV infrastructure to minimize installation of additional hardware devices such as gateway and thus reduce TCO.

As of 2018, Samsung’s IoT Wi-Fi AP model (WEA403si) and Cisco’s models using USB port extension of Wi-Fi AP are available for Wi-Fi AP and two Hanhwa Techwin’s IoT CCTV models are available for CCTV.

The business models of PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IoT solutions are mainly divided into on-premise deployment and cloud SaaS deployment. Please refer to the FAQ for details of each business model.

In the case of the on-premise deployment model, PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY provides the quotation for the hardware and software license for the IoT solution and the professional service to deploy the solution in the field.

Although the software license is generally based on the one-time purchase of package software, the annual deal payment is acceptable according to the customer situation.

PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY provides the charged maintenance service for hardware and software after the expiration of warranty period.

In the case of on-premise deployment model, the functional customization of hardware and software according to customer’s requirement with a separate SoW (Scope of Work) is possible.

Moreover, the customers can build the interface to legacy systems using the SDK or API included in the solution or contract with PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY for professional service to provide the interface or integration.

In the cloud SaaS model, the customer purchase or rent the hardware devices. And the software license is charged monthly or quarterly. The consulting service for field deployment is also available under a separate contract on customer request. Unlike the on-premise model, the customization of solution functions is not available. However, customers can build the interface to legacy systems using the SDK or API included in the solution.

In the case of on-premise deployment model, PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY applies a volume discount for hardware devices according to the unit price and purchase quantity. The software license price consists of the fixed server software license and the access licensee according to the number of BLE tags and gateways. In the case of cloud SaaS deployment model, PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY applies a volume discount for hardware devices according to the unit price and purchase quantity as it does with the on-premise deployment. The software license charged monthly or quarterly includes the cloud server usage fare. It may differ from the number of BLE tags and gateways. There is no fixed server software license fee in case of SaaS model. The smaller sites generally select the cloud SaaS service to deploy the service at a reasonable cost. The maintenance policy is applicable to the on-premise deployment model. Both hardware and software are covered by 1-year warranty, and the charged maintenance contract is available after the expiration of the warranty period.

PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY’s IoT solution is a ready-made package solution. Except for customization that is performed under a separate contract, the solution with the standard feature will work within 24 hours after the server installation to exclude the time need for the cell planning and for the devices installation on site.

Although the period for the cell planning, indoor map configuration, and IoT device installation differs according to the size of the deployed site, it usually takes 2-4 weeks.
