Seoul – July 14, 2025 –
People and Technology (CEO: Hong Sung-pyo), a leader in hospital operation automation in Korea, announced that it has officially launched the demonstration phase of the “5G-Based Mobile Flexible Medical Platform Technology Development Project,” jointly promoted by four government ministries: the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
The project is led by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Korea University, with joint participation from several R&D organizations including People and Technology, Hyzen Healthcare, and Curma. At a demonstration kickoff ceremony held in July, the field deployment of Korea’s first-ever "mobile smart hospital" was officially initiated.
The mobile hospital goes beyond a simple medical vehicle; it is a state-of-the-art medical infrastructure equipped with examination rooms, intensive care units, emergency rooms, and even operating rooms. Seven large trailers are connected to form a single hospital system, and are equipped with diagnostic devices equivalent to those of secondary hospitals, including blood analyzers, ultrasound machines, ECGs, and X-ray equipment. Additionally, with a 5G-based AI diagnosis and remote consultation system, it enables real-time collaboration with specialists from tertiary hospitals.
In this project, People and Technology developed all core systems for automating digital hospital operations, including:
-
An integrated operation control system
-
A patient care system
-
Resource optimization and allocation management
-
Real-time operational monitoring
These systems are optimized for mobile environments and based on IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) technology and real-time location and biometric monitoring capabilities from the company’s flagship platform, IndoorPlus+ SmartCare.
The current demonstration is linked to the pilot operation of the “Chungbuk Mobile Medical Service for Depopulating Areas,” a project led by North Chungcheong Province in collaboration with Korea University Anam Hospital, Cheongju Medical Center, and Chungju Medical Center. The mobile hospital will rotate through six cities and counties in North Chungcheong Province—including Boeun, Jecheon, and Danyang—offering primary care services in internal medicine, orthopedics, dentistry, and health consultations to residents in underserved regions.
The mobile hospital can be expanded beyond seven trailers depending on site needs. Built as a smart medical platform, it enables not only medical examinations but also emergency response, remote consultations, and digital questionnaires. All operational data is centrally managed through People and Technology’s ICT infrastructure.
People and Technology already has experience supplying smart hospital solutions to over 20 major tertiary and public hospitals in Korea, including Yongin Severance Hospital, National Cancer Center, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and Ilsan Hospital. Its technology has been field-tested for real-time patient monitoring, asset and infection management, and biometric-based emergency response.
A company representative stated, “This demonstration proves that People and Technology’s automation technology is effective not only in stationary hospitals but also in mobile hospitals,” and added, “We plan to expand our business scope into disaster response, military medicine, telemedicine, and international public healthcare collaboration.”
