People and Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO: Hong Sung-pyo) recently completed the successful deployment of its real-time patient monitoring system at Incheon Sejong Hospital and Bucheon Sejong Hospital, reinforcing the transition to digital healthcare and smart hospital infrastructure.

Each hospital has implemented the system in departments sensitive to biometric changes, such as nephrology (dialysis unit) and orthopedics in Incheon, and thoracic surgery and cardiology in Bucheon. The system enhances patient safety and enables faster clinical response from medical staff.
The real-time monitoring system uses wearable devices and in-hospital IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) infrastructure to continuously collect and analyze key vital signs such as heart rate, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and ECG data. This information is transmitted to nurse stations and central monitoring units, allowing caregivers to check patients' status at a glance without physically visiting the room. Emergency alerts are automatically triggered when abnormal signs are detected, ensuring immediate intervention.
The wearable device used—HiCardi—is a lightweight (18g), waterproof medical patch also adopted by the National Cancer Center. It provides high-precision measurements of heart rhythm, apnea, skin temperature, ECG, and arrhythmias. Compared to traditional bedside monitors, it significantly improves patient mobility and comfort.
Both hospitals are using the system for patients who require continuous observation, such as elderly patients, dialysis patients, post-operative recovery patients, and emergency cases. By monitoring patients’ conditions throughout the ward, early detection of abnormalities and a stronger response system are enabled across the facility.
This initiative follows a similar example from the National Cancer Center, which implemented real-time patient monitoring in its integrated nursing care wards to ensure patient safety without the constant presence of guardians at the bedside.
According to People and Technology, this deployment helps reduce the workload on medical staff while improving the quality of care. Furthermore, as ECG and other key metrics are billable under national health insurance, the system contributes directly to hospital profitability. In the future, AI-based predictive analytics will be integrated to detect anomalies earlier and support customized diagnostic and treatment planning.
As such, real-time patient monitoring is gaining attention as core infrastructure that simultaneously improves hospital efficiency, service quality, and patient safety. People and Technology plans to continue expanding its partnerships with leading hospitals nationwide.
