Enterprise AI and digital transformation service provider People and Technology Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Hong Sung-pyo and Lim Jin-soon) announced its selection as a participating company in the 2023 Smart Hospital Leading Model Development Support Project, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
About the Smart Hospital Leading Model Development Support Project
The project aims to address pressing issues in healthcare, such as medical workforce shortages and the need for a digital medical environment, by applying advanced ICT technologies. Launched in 2020, it supports the development and demonstration of smart hospital models by annually selecting healthcare institutions in three key focus areas.
For 2023, the theme is "Creating a Safe Patient Environment", focusing on:
- Smart medication safety systems
- Medical staff education and training
- Smart hospital environment management
From 16 consortiums that applied, three were selected based on business goals, strategies, and detailed plans. People and Technology will participate in the smart hospital environment management field, led by Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital in collaboration with Yongin Severance Hospital and Deo Jayan Hospital.
People and Technology’s Role and Expertise
People and Technology has been developing and supplying its IndoorPlus+ Smart Care solution, a hospital digitalization platform that automates and optimizes traditionally manual hospital processes. With expertise in RTLS (Real-Time Location Solutions) and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) technologies, the company offers a wide range of services, including:
- Smart inpatient wards
- Smart outpatient services
- Remote vital checks
By 2023, the company aims to supply these digital healthcare applications to over 50 medical institutions domestically and internationally.
Medical institutions using IndoorPlus+ Smart Care can automate diverse hospital workflows, collect real-time operational data, and implement smart nursing and patient care, thereby enhancing the quality of care and contributing to national healthcare R&D initiatives.
2023 Project Goals and Expansion Plans
For this year’s project, People and Technology will enhance its solutions to include:
- Efficient allocation of medical equipment across departments based on usage data.
- Preventive maintenance and comprehensive smart medical asset management.
To support smaller hospitals with limited IT resources, the company plans to transition to a cloud-based subscription model, making advanced hospital digitalization services more accessible. This expansion will begin domestically in 2024, with international deployment to follow.
A Vision for Global and Domestic Impact
A company spokesperson commented:
"The rapid pace of digital transformation globally necessitates a swift transition to smart hospitals to improve public health and provide better medical services. Through this project, we aim to lead the development and adoption of smart hospital technologies and services in Korea and abroad. We anticipate that 2023 will be a pivotal year as we expand our proven Hospital Digitalization solutions to global healthcare institutions.”
