Seoul – June 10, 2022 –
People and Technology Co., Ltd. announced its participation in a collaborative research and development project with Ilsan Hospital and Yongin Severance Hospital. The project, titled "Development and Validation of a Medical Facility Infectious Disease Response Decision Support System Reflecting Multi-Level and Multi-Factor Risk Data and Stepwise Infection Control Standards," aims to enhance infectious disease management and response in healthcare settings.
Background and Project Goals
Yongin Severance Hospital, the lead institution, has been utilizing People and Technology’s IoT-based contact tracing and classification system for the past two years to manage early detection of Covid-19 contacts. The system proved effective in enabling automated and rapid contact tracing based on real-time location tracking, minimizing the impact of Covid-19 through swift containment.
Building on this experience, the new project seeks to further advance the decision-making framework to address not only Covid-19 but also a broad range of infectious diseases, including novel and traditional pathogens with varying transmission characteristics. Over a 33-month period, the research will focus on:
- Developing algorithms to classify contacts and extract infection control zones based on multi-level and multi-factor transmission risks.
- Expanding the scope to account for various modes of transmission, such as droplet, airborne, and contact-based spread.
- Designing system architecture that incorporates diverse environmental factors (space, disease, people) into contact classification.
Innovative Features
The upgraded system will move beyond the traditional metrics of proximity and contact duration to consider:
- Multi-Level Risk Factors: Flexible analysis of transmission vulnerabilities specific to each infectious disease.
- Custom Algorithms: Enhanced accuracy in contact classification by accommodating different transmission characteristics.
- Decision Support Dashboard: A visual interface providing quantifiable criteria for isolation decisions involving both individuals and spaces.
Advanced Capabilities
People and Technology will develop a decision support integrated management system that:
- Automates the classification of contacts without requiring additional manpower.
- Supports infection control through IoMT-based smart hospital ICT infrastructure.
- Ensures rapid and precise decision-making in response to infectious disease outbreaks.
The company’s expertise in IoT and infectious disease solutions, validated through its IndoorPlus+ VESTIGO platform, will underpin the project’s success. The platform has already been deployed in several hospitals to manage Covid-19 contact tracing effectively.
CEO’s Vision
Hong Sung-pyo, CEO of People and Technology, stated:
"We aim to build upon our proven IoT-based contact tracing system to develop a comprehensive decision support system that will elevate infection response capabilities in hospitals. This project is a step toward creating a sustainable, technology-driven framework for infectious disease management."
This initiative reinforces People and Technology's commitment to advancing healthcare innovation through cutting-edge IoT and AI solutions.
