Seoul – April 28, 2022 –
Korea's leading IoT company, People and Technology, has secured a contract to expand its IndoorPlus+ asset tracking solution across Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport, a global leader in smart airport operations. This contract follows the successful implementation of the Indoor & Outdoor IoT-Based Smart Asset Management System at Incheon Airport.
Features and Benefits of the Smart Asset Management System
The system integrates BLE, GPS, and LoRa protocols into a single sensor device to enable seamless real-time tracking of assets moving between indoor and outdoor spaces. It provides real-time location tracking and triggers alerts when assets leave designated zones, preventing loss and theft effectively.
Tailored Technology for Airport Operations
Incheon Airport’s operations span two distinct zones—landside (terminal and office spaces) and airside (runways, hangars, and storage areas). The system employs technology tailored to the unique characteristics of each area:
- Airside: Utilizes LPWA LoRa private networks and GPS technology to monitor assets accurately over expansive outdoor areas.
- Landside: Leverages existing WiFi access points to implement Bluetooth-based indoor positioning without requiring additional wiring.
Scalability and Future Plans
Since 2016, Incheon Airport has operated over 3,000 WiFi access points, facilitating seamless implementation of indoor positioning within the terminals. With this expansion to cover all of Terminal 1, plans are underway to extend the system to Terminal 2 and the Concourse.
CEO’s Vision for the Future
Hong Sung-pyo, CEO of People and Technology, stated, "We aim to complete this project successfully and contribute to establishing Incheon Airport as a global model for smart airports. We look forward to expanding our technology to Terminal 2 and the Concourse in the near future."
This expansion demonstrates the growing importance of IoT-based asset management solutions in enhancing operational efficiency and security at smart airports, setting a new standard for the aviation industry.
