Seoul – November 1, 2021 –
People & Technology, a leader in IoMT, indoor and outdoor positioning (RTLS), and medical AI solutions, has signed a final contract with Yongin Mental Hospital, Korea’s premier mental health institution, to build a smart psychiatric ward model. The project aims to enhance patient safety and care within specialized wards for individuals with mental health conditions.
Challenges in Psychiatric Wards
Psychiatric wards often feature closed settings due to the potential risk of self-harm or harm to others. Monitoring abnormal behavior and preemptively responding to emergency situations are critical for ensuring patient safety.
Key Systems in the Smart Psychiatric Ward Model
As part of the “Smart Hospital Leading Model” initiative led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, People & Technology will implement two core systems:
Smart Patrol Monitoring System
- Designed to ensure thorough patient checks during vulnerable times in closed psychiatric wards.
- Prevents lapses in safety patrols due to intentional or accidental oversight.
- Enhances ward safety by monitoring patrol routes and preventing deviations.
- Automatically logs patrol records, times, and electronically records key checklists, improving convenience for caregivers and staff.
Smart Abnormal Behavior Monitoring System
- Real-time monitoring of patients’ biometric and activity indicators to detect abnormal behaviors or signs of risk.
- Uses AI algorithms to analyze data, allowing early detection and prevention of potential emergencies.
- Facilitates swift and effective interventions to mitigate further risks, ensuring both safety and stability for patients.
Comprehensive Digital Integration
In addition to the core systems, People & Technology’s IoMT total solution will integrate with the hospital’s HIS/EMR systems. This enables the digitalization of care protocols and considers the unique needs of psychiatric wards to achieve smart, tailored solutions.
Impact of the Project
The project will implement customized IoMT equipment, network infrastructure, and software platforms to advance:
- Professional care monitoring and management for psychiatric ward patients.
- Enhanced safety and patient experience within specialized wards.
- Reduced workload for medical staff through automation and streamlined workflows.
This collaboration will set a new standard for digital innovation in mental health care, providing a model for smart psychiatric wards. People & Technology aims to expand its solutions to establish leadership in the growing market for specialized smart hospital systems.
