Enterprise AI services company People and Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO: Hong Seong-pyo, Lim Jin-soon) announced today that it has secured a contract with the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS) for the ‘Personal Location Tracking System using Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology’.
NIMS’s infectious disease management team has been conducting research to predict the spread of new infectious diseases like COVID-19, focusing on contact tracing and transmission routes. To achieve this, the team plans to carry out experiments involving close-contact scenarios using real-time location tracking to analyze potential infection pathways. The system aims to track and measure movements of individuals within a set space, especially focusing on detecting close contact within a 2-meter range, which is a critical factor in the spread of airborne diseases.
People and Technology will leverage its expertise in Real-Time Locating Service (RTLS) technology to deploy a UWB-based system. This system will track real-time data, including the locations, movements, and proximity of individuals. It will provide highly reliable positioning data and monitor close-contact interactions, such as skin-to-skin contact and proximity during conversations, which are critical for understanding the potential spread of respiratory viruses.
People and Technology stated, "This project will help simulate and track close-contact interactions in environments such as schools, workplaces, and hospitals, and is expected to contribute to the development of an innovative model that can prevent the spread of infectious diseases."
Through this project, People and Technology aims to enhance the UWB-based real-time location tracking technology and further apply it to various industries for more advanced solutions in tracking and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
