Laying the Digital Foundations of Smart Hospitals with IndoorPlus+ SmartCare
Seoul – July 5, 2021 – People & Technology, a leader in AI-powered IoT/IoMT service platforms, participated in the 2020 Smart Hospital Leading Model Performance Sharing Conference organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on July 2, 2021. The event highlighted achievements, contributions from hospitals, and collaborations with related companies.
This year’s conference focused on the theme of “Infectious Disease Response” in the context of COVID-19. It showcased developments from three key areas—improving critical care, rapid and accurate infectious disease response, and efficient management of medical resources—led by five consortiums. Each presented their progress in building smart hospital models, key demonstration results, and real-world applications.
People & Technology played a significant role by providing solutions in various areas, including:
- Smart infectious disease management with a real-time monitoring system to prevent in-hospital infection spread using location tracking.
- 24/7 patient monitoring through wearable devices.
- Monitoring patient and staff movements within the hospital using smartphones and location tracking devices.
- Tracking and managing medical assets to optimize utilization.
- Monitoring isolation rooms with the PADIS system.
- Monitoring patients in residential treatment centers.
- AI-based severity prediction systems for COVID-19 patients.
- Automating nursing workflows through smart hospital rooms.
The company contributed to building IoT infrastructure and smart hospital services by integrating data on the location, condition, and vital signs of people and assets.
People & Technology’s proprietary beacon scanner technology enables real-time, seamless data transmission for people and assets requiring management and protection. The IoT infrastructure is further utilized for patient vital sign monitoring and the automation of nursing tasks. Collected data is analyzed and shared in real time to provide hospital administrators with actionable insights and decision-making tools, while reducing repetitive, manual tasks for medical staff.
At the event, Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol remarked, “This performance sharing conference marks the beginning of transformative innovation toward smart hospitals across healthcare institutions. We anticipate that smart hospitals will continue to deliver meaningful outcomes, becoming a new standard in digital healthcare.” He emphasized that “Smart hospitals are a core component of the Digital New Deal and a pioneering project. The government will actively support measures to ensure patients and medical staff experience these changes firsthand.”
Since 2017, People & Technology has been a leader in expanding IoT applications in healthcare. The company is now focused on advancing smart hospital infrastructure and developing AI- and IoT-powered solutions for critical areas like:
- Pressure ulcer management.
- Fall prevention.
- Specialized cancer patient care for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Mental health inpatient management.
These innovations aim to enhance patient safety and care through intelligent, automated systems.
Building on the successes of the 2020 Smart Hospital Leading Model initiative, People & Technology is collaborating with hospitals selected for the 2021 Smart Hospital Leading Model support project. The company reaffirmed its commitment to advancing smart hospital adoption and leading the development of technology and services in the healthcare sector.
