Seoul – May 24, 2021 – People & Technology (CEO: Jinsoon Lim), a leading IoT solutions and data company in Korea, announced the completion of the IoT-based smart asset management system development for Incheon International Airport. This project was carried out under a public-private joint investment initiative led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The development project, which is contingent upon future purchase expansion, aims to manage assets that move between indoor and outdoor areas of the airport. It provides users with an intuitive system for preventing theft and loss, tracking asset locations, and monitoring operational status. The project also involved developing infrastructure and signal-emitting devices (tags) tailored to the unique airport environment. A significant aspect of this project was the development of a device capable of seamlessly utilizing multiple network protocols—such as BLE, GPS, and LoRa—within a single sensor. This enabled the creation of an infrastructure for seamless, uninterrupted monitoring and continuous positioning of assets across vast indoor and outdoor areas.
The system minimizes the need for additional infrastructure installation and wiring by leveraging existing infrastructure compatibility established through People & Technology’s partnerships with network equipment providers. The core infrastructure developed for the asset management system also serves as a foundational technology for additional IoT services, such as warehouse and materials management, worker safety management, and access control security. This adaptability ensures ease of expansion for future smart airport projects.
The project, starting with the goal of maximizing asset management efficiency at Incheon International Airport, aims to create a mutually beneficial model with domestic companies to pave the way for overseas business opportunities. By targeting the export of the K-Smart Airport model, the project also seeks to generate additional value, such as creating jobs and increasing revenue for domestic SMEs through the broader adoption of the system under purchase agreements.
